I've gone HD shopping at local shops and I have seen the Sportster 1200 priced at slightly under $13000. BTW the Sportster 1200 is the first HD that seemed worth the money. all the lesser bikes were truly uncomfortable to even sit on.
My only comment is that there are so many different models and options (so it seems) that you need to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples. It seemed like there were at least 6 different 'Sportsters' .
